How It All Began….
What started out as a “hobby” quickly escalated into a mobile gem mining adventure. We knew we wanted to bring the excitement of gem and fossil mining to the public and were determined to devise a way to do so. In 2020, amid COVID, Foothills Mobile Gem Mining was born in Triad, North Carolina. We knew there would be huddles to overcome to make it work, but our mission to succeed was fueled by passion, determination, and hard work!
Fast forward 5 years, and over 750 public events, parties, field trips, summer camps, and 180,000 miles (give or take) …. We are still bringing the mining experience to the East Coast… and beyond!

Everything You Need to Know For Your Mining Adventure!
Q: Is there a specific age group for gem mining birthday parties?
A: No! All ages enjoy gem mining!
Q:How long does the party last?
A: Our birthday parties are scheduled in 2-hour blocks. We arrive 30-45 minutes prior to get set up and ready to mine at your designated start time.
Q: How many children can I invite?
A: That is up to you and your birthday miner. Our sluices can accommodate up to 12 miners at a time.
Q: What is your availability for birthday parties?
A: 7 DAYS A WEEK!
Q: How far in advance should I book?
A: We suggest at least 2 weeks in advance. During the busier times (August-November), we suggest at least 30 days prior.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: We collect a deposit at the time of booking as a placeholder. Should you need to cancel, we ask that you do so 7 days prior. We understand that things happen, and we will do everything we can to accommodate changes. If an issue arises, reach out to us and we’ll come up with a solution.
Q: What do we need from you?
A: Water to fill the tank (once it’s filled, the water will recirculate) and a power source within 100 feet of your desired setup location. Oh, and eager miners ready to explore!
